Every 3 months or so, comes a day I anxiously anticipate. This day is the one of retrieving film from a long time gap and finally being being able to see how many of the 35mm snaps turned out. I've been falling in love with shooing pictures with film over the years; I'm pretty thankful for my little Minolta SRT 101. With a memory that doesn't hold ever moment from a semester or summer (even the best of 'em), film photography has become a sort of visual journalling for me; being able to relive and reflect on moments from a season; moments that I literally did not see since I physically snapped them! It often becomes a nerve-wracking process, as well. Months of wondering if a favorite picture that I took turned out or not. But, as it shows, there usually is one that never comes through. Some moments are too good for even us to hold on to. Some mountains are too big for the frame.
Whenever I talk film with people, the famous scene from Walter Mitty tends to come up. It's a good 'un.
"If I like a moment, I don't like to have the distraction of the camera. So I stay...in it. "
Here are some of my favorites from this past season of life; September -> December. Boy, has it been a good one!
